Cedric is a 4 1/2 year old male English Cocker Spaniel. He is a nice friendly and affectionate dog, he enjoys being outside in the garden and going for walks. During foster we have used a long lead, he responds to commands and has good recall. He sleeps soundly downstairs all night and is happy to see people in the morning. He eats well and, is fully house trained.
Cedric needs a new home experienced with guarding. Cedric likes to guard shoes, tennis balls and leads. If approached the behaviour will escalate, if he is left for a while he will leave the item and it can be retrieved. He sleeps downstairs in the conservatory after taking himself to bed, staying there all night until someone gets up. He goes for a walk and has breakfast separately when he returns. He is fed on Orijen dry food twice a day and, has some sardine with breakfast. He has another couple of walks later in the day, very good on and off lead.
In the evening he likes to lay in the conservatory but, pops into the lounge to check on us occasionally. He likes to play in the garden and will play with my son’s dog who regularly visits. My springer spaniel is 13 and they are together but respect each other’s space. He also likes to play football in the garden with us.
Cedric likes contact when sitting with us ie leans against my leg, but we have to be aware of guarding ie not startling him. He has so many positive points but my favourite is how excited to see us he is when we return home.
With patience and boundaries, Cedric is a lovely companion.
