Hooper is a 8 year old male English Cocker Spaniel. He is a lovely dog who has settled well into a routine and a quiet household. He is a typical Spaniel and wants to be with humans and likes nothing better than sitting at or on your feet when you are watching TV. He is very well behaved in the house, has made no attempt to go upstairs and when we made it clear he wasn’t to sit on the couch as soon as we left the room he stopped. He will bark if there is a knock on the front door but everyone gets a friendly greeting. He can be left if everyone goes out ( we put him in the utility room) and he is a lovely dog to have in the house. He isn’t bothered about toys as he just wants attention and affection. He isn’t the sort of dog to cuddle up on the couch with though. He has excellent recall when out and about and we have let him off the lead with no problems.

However he does have a thing about bigger dogs. He sometimes takes a dislike and will bark aggressively if he doesn’t like the look of another dog but there seems to be no rhyme or reason. Sometimes you think he won’t like that dog and they have a sniff and it’s great and other times he barks. He will let you put him on the lead and take him away. He was described as an alpha Male and this is the only time we have seen this sort of behaviour when he is out. Hooper apparently had a bad experience being groomed when he was younger and this means he doesn’t like a rub down at the end of a walk. He doesn’t seem one for muddy puddles though.

He doesn’t like his paws being wiped and so we are gradually getting him used to us touching them by bribing him with a doggy biscuit. But he is overweight and this is the only time he gets a biscuit! He has lost 1kg with us as he has the right amount of food and lots of exercise. Hooper loves a good walk and we are definitely seeing his fitness improve. Hooper definitely needs a quiet house with no other pets or children. He reacted badly when a friend came in the house with her dog. His alpha Male came out then. Based on previous history I would advise no children. He has been petted by a couple of children outside and he was fine. Lastly Hooper does like to whimper. He let’s you know he is there. We have loved having him as our first foster.

Medical Issue: He has a wort on his right side. The vet said it may need to be removed in the future if it is causing problems like weeping. At the moment it is fine. Sensitive stomach. On special dog food with no problems.

Hooper is neutered chipped vaccinated wormed and flead and adoption is subject to meet and greet homecheck and adoption fee. Applications via forms section of website please.
